Mrs. Edwards Visits Jena

By Jonathan Simeone

Yesterday, in my post Reviewing the Candidate’s Statements on the Problems in Jena,” I mentioned that I would have liked to have seen one of the major candidates attend today’s protest. So, I was pleased to read that Mrs. Edwards represented Senator Edwards’s campaign at the rally. While it would have been better had Senator Edwards attended the event himself, the fact that Mrs. Edwards attended was a nice gesture, and a step in the right direction. I have not heard if any of the other campaigns sent a representative, but I will keep looking.

In an interview that Mrs. Edwards gave before the protest she discussed Senator Clinton’s health care proposal. According to Mrs. Edwards, the proposals made by Senator Clinton are a “carbon copy” of those put forth by Senator Edwards in February. I will be reviewing the health care proposals of the leading Democratic candidates later this week.

Mrs. Edwards didn’t attend the rally. Please read your link. It’s too bad no candidates sent anyone down there to Jena.
